Picking the wrong paint color for your walls can be frustrating, expensive and time consuming. What can you do to make sure that you choose the right paint color?
Painting can be a time consuming hassle, particularly if you are going to DYI.
You’ll want to make sure that you get it right the first time… without any regrets!
Unfortunately, painting sample sections of paint directly on to the walls is only effective to a degree.
Skipping on primer means that you will have to add extra layers to ensure the original paint color is fully covered.
Furthermore, unless you are going to paint several different areas of the wall, you won’t be able to judge how the undertones in the new paint color respond to different lighting conditions in the room, such as in corners or areas naturally lit.
That is because all colors have certain undertones which aren’t immediately visible to the eye until, well, the whole wall has been painted in what you thought was just beige, but which ended up looking more red than you had bargained for.
To avoid making this mistake, we recommend purchasing large paint chips at Samplize.
Your designer should be able to supply some paint chips as well.
Paint chips come in different sizes. Samplize carries 12×12’s and these are super easy to apply to any wall which makes choosing the right color a breeze.
We have included some additional tips to ensure that you are getting the full effect:
Tape the paint chip to a large white piece of paper so that your eye is able to make a break between the the original wall color and the new.
Place the paint chip(s) on different areas of the wall during different times of the day to ensure you actually like what you see. This is especially important as different lighting bring out those hidden undertones that you wouldn’t ordinarily be aware of by just looking at the paint chip alone.
